Providence Knocks Off USC With Last-Second Layup

Rodney Bullock’s layup with one second remaining proved the difference as Providence beat USC 70-69 for the Friars’ first win in the NCAA tournament since reaching the regional finals in 1997.

The Trojans led most of the second half but faltered on attempting to defend the inbound pass, leaving Bullock wide open for the game-winning layup. (That USC kept missing free throws late didn’t help.)
